Travel Itinerary
The First Day - The Serene Setting of Arusha
Upon your arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport, a skilled driver from our team will warmly welcome you and transport you to Arusha. Later in the day, you will engage in a briefing session regarding your upcoming trek. Your night will be spent at the luxurious Rich Hotel, where you will also enjoy a delightful dinner.
The Second Day - Arusha - Entry Point of Machame Trail
Following breakfast, you will be escorted to the Machame entrance gate at Kilimanjaro Park. The initial leg of your ascent will take you through the lush mountainous woodland. It will be a five to seven-hour trek until you arrive at the Machame campsite situated at an altitude of 10,000 feet (3,000 meters). Your accommodation and meals will be provided at the camp for the night.
The Third Day - Camp Machame - Shira Base
Commencing at 7:00 a.m. following your morning meal, you will set off from the camp and traverse the steep ridge, passing through heath and moorland until you reach Picnic Rock and the Shira plateau. The journey to Shira Camp 2 boasts some of the most breathtaking views on the mountain. Starting in the lush tropical rainforest, the hike swiftly transitions into a shrubby terrain. This region of Kilimanjaro is often described as moorland or a low-alpine environment. Expect to spend five to seven hours walking to the Shira Campsite (12500ft/3800m), where you will have dinner and spend the night.
The Fourth Day - Barranco Base - Shira Campsite
Following your morning meal, you will set off towards Barranco Camp, your third stop on the journey, located at an elevation of 13000ft/3900m. The route will lead you through a wide valley before ascending to a ridge top, passing scree-covered slopes and a river valley on your way to the campsite. The trek is expected to last between five to seven hours. You will enjoy your meals and spend the night at the campsite.
The Fifth Day - Camp in the Ravine - Camp at the Summit
Following breakfast, you will traverse the expanse of the Great Barranco Valley and ascend the Barranco wall to reach the Karanga River, which marks the final water stop along this path. A challenging ascent over rugged rock formations will lead you to the Barafu Campsite (15500ft/4600m). This leg of your adventure is expected to span between eight to nine hours. Your accommodation and meals for the night will be provided at the campsite.
The Sixth Day - Camp on the Summit - Camp at the Base
Begin your day by waking up early and embarking on a journey to the summit of Africa's highest point, Uhuru Peak, standing tall at 19340ft/5896m. The trek to reach the peak is expected to take around six to seven hours. Once you have enjoyed the summit experience to the fullest, you will descend through the forest, passing by Barafu Campsite, and finally reaching Mweka Campsite at 10000ft/3000m for your meals and overnight accommodations.
The Seventh Day - Arusha's Mweka Entrance
Following breakfast, you will embark on a three to four-hour descent to reach the park gate located at Mweka Wildlife College. Upon arrival, you will receive a warm welcome and be driven to either Arusha or Kilimanjaro Airport for your journey back home.
